It is a design question rather than a problem. Falls get set across the slope rather than straight down it, drainage channels go in where the water actually collects, and on the steepest we'll usually recommend block over resin for grip and for the ability to lift and re-lay a section. We'll walk it with you and explain what we're doing and why.

Coniston is inside the National Park, and the Park takes a close interest in how a frontage looks from the road, particularly on the older slate cottages. A dropped kerb is a separate matter and goes to Westmorland and Furness Council, which looks after the roads. We'll tell you at the site visit whether we think you need to ask either of them.

Buff sandstone or a bright new block always looks imported next to them. Riven slate, darker natural stone or a resin in a charcoal or silver blend sit properly with the village.
Coniston itself, Torver, Hawkshead and the properties along both shores of Coniston Water. A good deal of it is holiday cottages where the parking has to work in every season.
A little longer than in town, and that's priced in rather than sprung on you. Where a lane won't take a full-size wagon, aggregate comes in on smaller loads or gets transferred at the bottom, which adds time on the delivery days.
